New feature: Vessel Tracking — track vessel schedules by vessel and voyage

Track vessel schedules even without a booking or B/L number

We have added a new Vessel Tracking feature to MonCargo, our ocean container tracking service, available from Tuesday, October 27, 2026. You can now track a vessel by specifying its vessel name, voyage number, port of loading (POL), and port of discharge (POD).

With this feature, you can keep track of vessel schedules such as departure and arrival dates even before a booking number or B/L number is available. Vessel Tracking currently supports selected carriers operating mainly on intra-Asia routes, and we plan to expand carrier coverage over time.

Background

Vessel schedules need to be managed not only after a booking is made or a B/L (bill of lading) is issued, but also earlier, at the shipment planning stage. Until now, however, MonCargo required shipments to be registered with a carrier-issued booking number or B/L number, so vessel schedules could not be tracked automatically before those numbers were issued.

On intra-Asia routes in particular, vessels often reach their destination within just a few days of departure. Waiting for the B/L leaves very little time to follow the vessel's schedule before arrival. For LCL (consolidated) cargo, users may know the house B/L number issued by their forwarder but not the master B/L number issued by the carrier, which makes number-based tracking difficult.

To address these challenges, we developed Vessel Tracking, which lets you follow vessel schedules without a booking or B/L number. It complements our existing tracking by booking number, B/L number, and container number, helping you manage schedules from an earlier stage.

Feature Overview

To start automatic tracking, register a vessel by specifying the following four items:

• Vessel Name
• Voyage No.
• Port of Loading (POL)
• Port of Discharge (POD)

Registered vessels appear in the same list as shipments registered by booking or B/L number, and schedule information such as departure and arrival dates is updated continuously.

*Vessel Tracking currently supports manual registration from the web app only. Bulk registration via CSV and API integration are not supported.
