[Feature Update] Custom Field Type Selection Now Available | More Flexible Custom Item Management

Thank you for always using MonCargo.

We are pleased to announce the release of the "Custom Field" type selection feature, which allows more flexible configuration of company-specific items on the shipment details screen.

Previously, custom fields were limited to text format only, but with this update, you can now select from multiple input formats depending on your use case. This enables more accurate data entry and allows you to efficiently manage custom items on MonCargo that were previously handled in Excel or other systems.

*Custom fields are available on Premium plans and above.

Available Custom Field Types

You can now select from the following types for each item:

Format/Type

• Text
• Date
• Number
• Checkbox
• Dropdown (Selection)
• Link

Use Cases

• Internal control numbers or items → Text
• Delivery dates / Internal deadlines → Date
• Quantities / Amounts → Number
• Flag management / TODO management → Checkbox
• Management categories or classifications → Dropdown
• External system URL links → Link

Field names can be freely edited, allowing flexible customization to match your workflow.

Development Background

MonCargo has been providing custom field functionality to help users efficiently manage their unique information in ocean freight. In addition to "Name" and "Notes," teams can add their own custom management items, and these configured items sync with shipment details screens, list views, and CSV uploads, making this feature widely used by many users.

While this feature has been well-received by users, we have received the following requests from customers:

• Want to manage internal classifications with dropdown selections
• Want to standardize input formats to avoid inconsistencies between different users
• Want to link external URLs or internal documents

Since business workflows differ by company and department, we realized there was a need for flexibility to manage required items in the required format. Based on this feedback, we expanded custom fields to be more versatile, enabling optimal information management tailored to each team's workflow.
